High Court orders discovery against the Garda Commisioner in relation to four categories of documents, on the grounds that the documents sought are necessary and relevant to issues between the parties and will allow the plaintiff to adequately put his case forward at the trial of the action; but the court varies one category limiting discovery to a letter relevant to the plaintiff’s case, and refuses a final category in circumstances where the matters being investigated by the Gardaí are part of a criminal investigation and are also not relevant or necessary.
