Court of Appeal upholds the High Court's decision to strike out the appellant's proceedings against a New Zealand company for lack of jurisdiction in Ireland. The appellant's claims included unpaid fees for legal research services, defamation, and intimidation. The Court determined that the appellant failed to establish a good arguable case that her claims fell within the jurisdictional gateway for tort claims committed within the jurisdiction. Additionally, the Court found that Ireland was not the forum conveniens for the trial of the dispute, particularly due to the close nexus between the payment claim and the necessity to adjudicate on the validity of the appellant's resignation from the New Zealand company.
Jurisdiction - Court of Appeal - High Court - New Zealand company - unpaid legal research services - defamation - intimidation - economic duress - Order 11(1)(e) - Order 11(1)(f) - forum conveniens - service out of jurisdiction - contract claims - tort claims - resignation letter - forum non conveniens - Rules of the Superior Courts (RSC).
