High Court grants an order that the hearing of an application to confirm a decision of the Medical Council to suspend a doctor's registration be heard 'in camera', on the grounds that: (a) two of the witnesses to the proposed hearing wished to have their privacy protected; and (b) there was a possibility of criminal proceedings, and material prejudice would probably be caused to the doctor if the suspension decision were confirmed.
Professional regulation - Inquiry under Part 8 of the Medical Practitioners Act 200 - fitness to practice - cancellation of registration - prohibition from registration for ten years - application to confirm decision of Council - application for directions that hearing take place in camera - power at common law to hear matter in camera.
