The High Court has discharged a man in his sixties from wardship, appointing an experienced solicitor as his Decision-Making Representative (DMR) to assist with 'Personal Welfare and Property and Affairs' decisions. The court made this decision under the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015, recognising the man's lack of capacity in complex matters without support, while affirming his ability to manage day-to-day activities and simple transactions. The court ordered joint decision-making between the man and the DMR, ensuring the man's continued direct receipt of social protection payments and a review of his capacity within three years.
