High Court, in a case involving a collision between a motorcycle and a van, both the motorcyclist and the van driver were held equally responsible. The motorcyclist suffered multiple injuries, including head trauma and fractures, but made a significant recovery. General damages were awarded at €232,500, to be reduced by 50% for contributory negligence. The van driver's counterclaim for vehicle damage was also recognized, subject to a 50% reduction due to his contributory negligence.
