The High Court has granted a conditional order of garnishee in respect of the salary of a schoolteacher who persistently breached an order of a court restraining him from attending at school premises following his suspension. The court found that a daily fine of €700, later increased to €1,400, had not been effective in securing compliance. The Attorney General, along with the Ministers of Education and Finance, have been directed to become parties to the proceedings to facilitate the enforcement of the fines, totaling €79,100 as of February 24, 2025.
