High Court, in supplemental judgment following the dismissal of a case by a private citizen against the members of an Oireachtas committee, where she had been subjected to damaging comment while appearing as a witness in a voluntary capacity, awards the citizen two thirds of her taxed costs against the respondents on the grounds that: (a) the citizen was personally damaged by much of what was asked and said about her; (b) the institution of the proceedings was a proportionate reaction on her part to the situation; and (c) she had raised issues of special and general public importance concerning the legal safeguards (if any) of witnesses who appeared before such committees.
