The High Court has ruled that the decision to grant planning permission for a wind farm project was invalid due to the failure to properly inform the public of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the grid connection, an integral part of the project. This lack of compliance with Article 6 of the EIA Directive meant that the planning authority did not have jurisdiction to grant permission for the development. Consequently, the court has issued a declaration regarding the failure to meet the Directive's requirements and has ordered the quashing of the planning permission decision made on March 26, 2019.
